Incredible class. I definitely recommend this class for intermediate or advanced shooters. While new shooters can still benefit from this class, we only touch on the basics in the beginning and then move right to more advanced concepts and techniques… so if you are still nervous or struggling with drawing from a holster or shooting while moving… you may want to hold off on this class until you’ve taken Advanced Pistol Concepts first.
Mike is an incredible teacher, and I believe his assistant instructor’s name was Ron, who was also great. In this class we covered all of the things listed in the description and even a few things that were not!
Just absolutely incredible class. Learning to shoot from inside cars (don’t worry, there is no shooting through glass… just open windows), learning techniques to get up and out of a car WHILE drawing your firearm safely and effectively… learning how to shoot around cars, around walls, corners and barriers… learning how to shoot from behind barriers, then move to another barrier while shooting on the move, and then shoot from behind that second barrier… learning to shoot while on your knees ducking/crouching down behind small walls… it was all extremely “real-world” applicable stuff.
Another added benefit is Mike’s experience and education in Law and Law Enforcement. It’s not only great to shoot with an Army and Swat vet, but then to also have that person be an LA court appointed expert on use of force is invaluable. We can ask questions like “well, what if a person just kicked my car and smashed my windshield? What am I allowed to do legally?” and Mike can give you real definitive answers.
I just can’t say enough good things about this class or Mike Lazarus. This was hands down one of my favorite classes I’ve taken so far, not just at CTA, but out of any of the places I’ve taken firearms training.
Thank you CTA and Mike for offering such an amazing class and an amazing curriculum!
