• Special Forces CCW Concepts Level 1 

    This course is designed to give the shooter a better understanding of a close quarters CCW environment, dealing with close quarters threats, absorbing blows, movement, accuracy, speed, communication, threat assessment, situational awareness and teamwork.   • extended range handgun course
    This long range handgun course is not offered very often and is limited in class size to a maximum of 10 students. The class will focus on using the ballistics of the individual’s handgun choice for shooting out to 200 yards. The Extended range handgun class is a great class for those interested in handgun hunting, as well as those who want a different and more challenging perspective for handgun shooting. After shooting at targets over 100 yards away with your handgun, 25-yard targets will seem pedestrian. Prerequisites: Knowledge of handgun shooting basics. Equipment:
    • Handgun in centerfire,
    • Handgun caliber. Rifle caliber handguns will not be suitable for this class,
    • Single Shot, Semi-Auto, Single Action and DA/SA revolvers are all suitable for this class,
    • 200 rounds of quality ammunition,
    • 2 or more magazines for the Semi-Auto,
    • Speed strips or speed loaders for revolvers will be helpful. Otherwise the students will need some method of carrying additional ammunition, such as a cargo pocket, dump pouch etc,
    • Eye and ear protection,
    • Note taking materials,
    • Water, lunch and snacks,
    • Hat, sunblock, comfortable boots.
    0800-0830 Welcome. Safety brief. 0830-1100 Review of marksmanship fundamentals with emphasis on sights use and distilled trigger press. Groups on paper at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50 yards. 1100- 1230 Supported Position shooting, kneeling, sitting, prone, and various field positions on paper at 50 and 100 yards. 1230- 1300 Lunch Break 1300- 1400 On paper at 150 and 200 yards. 1400 -1530 Steel targets (100 to 200 yards) from various field positions 1530 to 1600 25-yard grouping exercise on paper.     Mike Lazarus holds 27 years of experience as a law enforcement officer, as well as 19 years SWAT including sniper, assaulter, team sergeant, FBI certified firearm instructor, MP5 and Sub Machine gun instructor, Defensive tactics instructor, Police Academy instructor, 13 years of experience in the US Army with multiple overseas deployments. Airborne, SOTIC, PSD, SRT, small arms armorer, various other military schools, Faculty member in California State University, Northridge and Ventura College.     In this 4 hour course students will continue to carry lvl I techniques and tactics while increasing their overall night operation capabilities. Shooters will work as individuals, teams, multiple threats including hostage situations, situational awareness, and dynamic movement.     Special Forces Handgun Concepts Level 1 

    In this 4 hour course the student will learn the basics of mastering their handgun. Topics covered will be stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger manipulation, and recoil management. In this course we guarantee on or two outcomes. The student will increase their accuracy and/or speed by 50%. By the end of this course each student will be effective at 50 yards on a life size target.     The Practical Handgun Defense Course is designed for the handgun shooter who wants to move beyond the basics. The participants should be familiar with loading and unloading their firearms, and the fundamentals of aiming and safely firing their handgun. This class will focus on the defensive use of handguns. Topics will include a review of marksmanship fundamentals. High speed aiming. Efficient presentations from the holster, both tactical and emergency reloading, Movement during the presentation. Shooting on the move. Shooting around and over cover. Multiple target engagements. And precise targets such as headshots and partially covered targets. This course will also give students a solid roadmap of what to practice and how to improve and maintain proficiency. The advanced handgun course is focused on the defensive use of handguns. Topics we will discuss include: • A review of marksmanship fundamentals • High speed aiming • Efficient presentations from the holster, both tactical and emergency reloading • Movement during the presentation • Shooting on the move • Shooting around and over cover • Multiple target engagements • Precise targets such as head shots and partially covered targets The advanced handgun course will also give students a solid road map of what to practice and how to improve and maintain proficiency.

    Prerequisites

    Understanding of gun safety and range rules and have basic knowledge of handgun use. You must supply your own handgun. Ammo requirements are approximately 450 rounds.

    1. Handgun. Centerfire only, no rimfire handguns
