Southern California’s

Public Shooting Range
in Ventura County
General Information
We are located in a canyon with no cell phone reception (we have a landline you can use or WIFI calling) and extreme weather (summer heat and rain we are set off a riverbed and access could be jeopardized). In extreme weather contact us to confirm that we are open. We will leave a voicemail on our mailbox if any situation will not allow access.
With your paid public range fee, you may use all of the steel targets at the public range for as long as the range remains open the day of your visit. You also get one target with your range fee. This means that you can choose a rifle range target at 50 yards OR a rifle range target at 100. There is an additional $5.00 fee for paper targets at 200, 300, 400 or 500 yards. Please remember you get only ONE paper target with your range fee, if you get a paper target for rifle you can pay additional $5.00 for a paper target at the pistol range. Steel targets at all ranges and yardages are included with your range fee so feel free to shoot at any steel target at any range you wish with a few exceptions, Magnum and PC Carbine 9mm will be shot at 30 yards and beyond.
Here’s how it works
YOU MUST NOT SPEED ON OUR GRAVEL DRIVEWAY! 15 MPH UP THE ENTIRE DRIVEWAY AND 5 MPH BY THE PUBLIC RANGE AND CHECK IN AREA. Please drive with caution up our road as it is a 2 mile gravel driveway. When you arrive at our public range, the first stop will be at the pro shop where you will review and sign our waiver. Here you will sign our waiver and pay your range fee. The next step for them is to be assigned their shooting bench if they are shooting rifle, and for pistol shooters you will find a clear space at the pistol range and begin your practice and that’s it. Please remember that there are not to be any firearms on the back tables. All firearms will be kept safe on the front tables (at the firing line) with your chamber flag inserted (we supply them). For those of you new to our range, PLEASE let us know this is your first visit. In this case, we require you to undergo a brief meeting of our range where you will learn:
- Range safety and expected firearm handling.
- What you get with your range fee.
- What other options are available.
- What you can and cannot shoot at.
- Rules between rifle, pistol and shotgun ranges (bird shot ONLY).
- Target distances.
- Services available i.e. bathroom (Porta Potty), pro-shop sales, etc.
During that time, it’s right for new shooters to ask any questions or address any concerns.
From the roads, the general scenery and the way we present and operate our range, we are working every day to make it bigger, better and more user-friendly. To date, we have added several more steel targets, a shotgun area (Bird shot ONLY) and we have cleaned up the range to give a better view of the targets. Please let us know if you would like to go down range during a cease fire so shooters can evaluate, replace, repair or remove their targets. We also added a pro-shop with ammunition, firearm sales and other shooting supplies, payment options (Cash and Credit Card) to pay for your range fees and other purchases.
The range staff is dedicated to your safety and the safety of those who visit the range. The Range Safety Officer’s (RSO) rules must be respected at all times and their directions and decisions honored, for your safety and the safety of the range.
The Range Master is the ultimate authority on the range having complete control over the entire range. In case you have seen unsafe activity please assist us by reporting it to our staff at the range. SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING! Your safety is our concern!
If you have a large group with your own firearms you may rent a private range, or if you are into competition shooting we have several competition areas available to become a member of.
We look forward to seeing you at the range!!
