The California Wheel Burners shooting club was originally formed in 1994 for the purpose of promoting “action” revolver shooting in the Los Angeles area. We are affiliated with the International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts (ICORE) and offer a standardized “classifier” stage at each match. ICORE is an international sanctioning body which promotes revolver-only shooting at local, regional, national and international competitions. ICORE governs classifications, rules and a championship program dedicated to the exclusive support of wheel gun enthusiasts. Club events are open to all – you don’t have to be a member to shoot with us. Loaner gear and guns can be available if you need them. Our informal matches are strictly for fun and personal satisfaction. We’re a relaxed and sociable group and always happy to welcome a new shooter! Wheel Burners shooters represent a broad diversity of shooting skill levels. New shooters are always welcomed and given guidance through the match to make the events easy to understand, safe and enjoyable. We are a low-pressure group who still think you can have a good time with a stock six shooter or a basic .22 plinker. On the 1st Saturday, we typically have a 6 or 8-stage rimfire steel event with handguns and rifles. On the 2nd Saturday, we hold an ICORE revolver match that typically features 5 individual stages of steel, paper and action targets. On the 4th Saturday, we occasionally feature a special fun match that may consist of auto pistols, shotguns, a combination of rifle, shotgun, or pistol or other shooting as the member’s request. Match events may be scheduled differently to accommodate other major events, holidays, or weather- Please follow our schedule for live updates!

Every First Saturday Of The Month- Rim Fire Match

The “RCSA” Rimfire Challenge Shooting Association introduces participants to the fun and excitement of competitive shooting in a safe, low-pressure, family-friendly format. All levels of target shooters—new, novice and experienced—are welcome to compete. Each will find a challenge appropriate to his or her level of marksmanship. The Rimfire Challenge was developed with safety in mind. Shooters will compete using a rifle and handgun from any manufacturer in .22 Long Rifle caliber. The targets are steel plates that are set in a course of fire that is no less than 5 plates and no more than 7 plates. The plates will be engaged 5 times and the best 4 times used to calculate your overall time. The course of fire is designed to be completed by even the most inexperienced shooter using one 10-round magazine without the need to reload “on the clock.” Steel plates were chosen as the targets because they are easy to buy or build and because this type of target provides the shooter with immediate visual and audio feedback.

A unique feature of the RCSA Rimfire Challenge is that experienced participants are encouraged to help new and novice shooters move up to the next level of proficiency by sharing their tips and shooting knowledge. Matches emphasize the friendly, supportive aspects of target shooting and competition. This low-key competition should remind participants that the shooting sports are lifetime activities that are fun and affordable for men, women, and youth. The initial investment required to participate in the RCSA Rimfire Challenge is low compared to other shooting sports. Since .22-caliber ammunition is very affordable, a whole family can shoot without breaking the bank.

All RCSA Rimfire Challenge competitions will include stages for both handgun and rifle chambered for .22 Long Rifle only. Competition is open to all safe and responsible individuals who can legally own or handle a firearm in the jurisdiction of the competition. As always, remember to safely handle firearms at all times and to store firearms safely when you are finished shooting.

Every Second Saturday Of The Month- Revolver Match

ICORE Revolver Information
The International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts or ICORE serves the international community to promote action shooting competition with revolvers. ICORE was founded in 1991 by Mike and Sharon Higashi, long time active shooters in all the handgun sports. Envisioned as an alternative to the “arms race” that was occurring in the other action shooting sports at that time, a revolver-only competition would allow even the most basic equipment to be used and still provide enjoyment and satisfaction.

Our sport combines elements of the Bianchi Cup, IPSC, USPSA, and the Steel Challenge into demanding competition for revolvers. Our standard paper target is the NRA D-1 and AP-1 targets with 4 scoring areas. Scoring is based on time, including time added or subtracted per the scoring rules. Falling and stationary steel plates are also used in ICORE events.
