This is not an entry level firearms course. This class requires that the student knows basic handling and manipulations
of both their rifle and handgun. A sturdy belt or chest rig with magazine holders and a handgun with a holster and
magazine holders. A 1 or 2-point sling will be required. It is recommended that the student bring knee pads, elbow pads,
and suitable footwear for movement.
During this course, you will learn firearms safety, mechanical offset at various distances, malfunction clearances, and
conventional and unconventional shooting positions.
The student will also work on rifle tactics, shooting with movement, speed, and positions utilizing cover. Additional
topics covered will be handgun transitions, multiple target engagements, bilateral shooting, and advanced
manipulations to include:
Sling use
Standing positions (high/low ready)
Intermediate positions
Tac loads/ Speed loads
Malfunctions (Type 1,2, brass over bolt)
Transition to Pistol
Hammer/ Controlled pair/ failure drill
Support Side
Compressed High/ Low ready
Pivots
Shooting with movement (left, right, forward, rear)
Shooting on the move
Barricade shooting
Supine, urban, roll over prone

Students provide 400 rounds of rifle ammunition and 100 rounds of pistol ammunition
Serviceable carbine in good working order
400 rounds of rifle ammunition
(3) or more rifle magazines
1 or 2-point sling
At least (1) magazine pouch that will retain equipment when moving
Proper belt to support equipment (leather or tactical belt type 1 ½ W or 1 ¾ W)
Serviceable handgun (9mm, .40, .45)
100 rounds of pistol ammunition
Outside the waistband (OWB) pistol holster, Kydex or rigid leather. NO NYLON HOLSTERS
Hearing protection
Ballistic rated eye protection
Note pad, and pen/pencil
Clothing suited for physical activity and seasonally appropriate
Rain gear / cold-weather gear (seasonal)
Brimmed Hat, Baseball style or Boonie
Weapons lube/Cleaning kit
