Throughout this course students will learn to safely work from their holster, while engaging targets at a variety of distances. Students will shoot from numerous starting configurations, with an emphasis on movement, using their handguns.
In this class we will utilize many of the commonly used drills for skill development in the USPSA/IPSC world and introduce students to the concept of time standards within these drills.
This class will discuss more advanced level aiming techniques compared to Intro to Handgun, or Handgun 1. We will introduce and discuss concepts such as Sight Confirmation, Predictive Shooting and Reactive Shooting. These concepts will allow you to shoot faster and more accurately, without overthinking the process.
This course will continue to elaborate on the three fundamental principles of effective handgun shooting taught in our Introduction to Handgun and Handgun 1 course: Grip, Vision and Trigger Control. Understanding these three concepts and how they work together is the only way to take your shooting to the next level.
Instructors will also help students develop a better understanding of the appropriate next steps in their firearms training journey. Whether it’s questions about guns, related gear or what your practice schedule and class selection should look like going forward, we are here to help.
Students in this class must have prior experience shooting and safely handling firearms.
This course is intended for people with at least some experience drawing and shooting from a holster, even if it is primarily from dry fire. There is no “speed” requirement but there are two basic “safety” requirements: 1) All students must be able to draw and safely re-holster their handguns, and 2) All students must be able to safely load and unload their firearms during the training session.
If you are not comfortable with any of the above, please start with our Introduction to Handgun or Handgun 1 class.
